Cats, Coffee, and Cappuccino!

Time for  a new challenge over at Cut It Up and our theme is Hot Drink!  Now, I have to admit, this one was my idea because I always have a cup of something in my hand ~ could be coffee, cocoa, cappuccino, etc.  I drink coffee all 4 seasons; my guys make fun of me when I sweating buckets out in the barn in August with a cup of hot coffee in my hand!

I saw this adorable stamp set over at Newton's Nook, who just happens to be our sponsor this month, and I jumped on it like a kitty who's had too much java!  hahaha

Material List
Stamp Set and Die Set:  Newton Loves Coffee
Cardstock:  CTMH
Paw Print Cardstock: Puppy Power from Scribbles Designs
Ribbon:  CTMH Whimsy

Thanks for coming by today!  Grab your hot drink of choice and head over to check out the fun cuts the DT found/designed for this challenge over at Cut It Up.   Feel free to check out other pages/posts, leave me comments or questions, or check out my YouTube Videos!

Recovered Book

Ok, recovered as in 'has a new cover' not as in 'was lost and now found'!  hahaha

The Twist over at Twisted Thursday is Anything Goes, so I decided to try a technique new to me I saw over at Chana's site Redora Lee Designs.

I did mine a bit differently since I was covering a larger book.  I covered the entire book with rolled kraft paper and then used a piece of Kraft cardstock for the actual floral piece.

I dampened the CS with the glycerin/water spritz and crumpled; repeat; repeat.  I ran it through my embossing and lost the crumpled affect.  Hmmm.....  Maybe it was the CS I used, or maybe something else, but I went with what I created.  I rubbed over the embossing with inks and sprayed with Aleene's Acrylic Sealer.

Next, it was just a matter of adding the closure, embellishments, and binding cover.

Thanks Chana for this idea!  I'm excited to try some other projects using this technique!

I'm sending my journal off to the following challenges:

....continuation of January 9th Post

.......we just have to stop and consider.  Yes, I can press on all I like, but if it isn't the right time to receive an answer, I must stop pressing and wait.  I must look around and consider God's wonders and know the right answer will come.

This image from Ike's Art with resting Gypsy Wagon and Horse is the perfect picture to show how I need to stop, relax and wait patiently.  I need to park myself for a moment and consider.

So, the road ahead .... my journey for 2017.... I guess I want to learn when to Press On and when to Stop and Consider.  I want to be more patient in finding answers.

What does the road ahead hold for you?  We'd love to share in what you are doing, read your thoughts, see your art, etc.  You can share with us over at Path of Positivity.  We are sponsored this month by Scribbles Designs and Ike's Art.

Thanks for stopping by, PoP on over to the challenge and see what the rest of the team is doing and share with us your thoughts, art, and inspirations!

Movies....Can't wait for Beauty in March!

It's always fun to go to the movies and that is the twist over at Twisted Thursday Challenge at The Outlawz!  At the Movies!  Maybe you are thinking of a movie you want to see, or your favorite movie from childhood, or maybe movies in general with tickets and popcorn.  Remember, the twist is optional!

I'm looking forward to seeing Beauty and The Beast coming in March!  When I signed up for monthly classes over at Kit & Clowder this was the Dec/Jan image; this digi from Stamp AnnieThing reminded me of Belle in the ballroom scene.  I practice colored several of these and cut this one down for a card; my final scene is pictured below.

Sweet Girl!

I love the distressed look and lucky for me that is the twist over at Twisted Thursday Challenge at The Outlawz!  Distress It!  Maybe you want to distress one part or the whole project, or maybe you don't want to distress at all!  That's ok since our twist is optional!

Hearts are hanging from Gold Thread from pins.

I started with a distressed shadow box I found on clearance at Kohl's.  It already had burlap on the inside, so it was perfect for my distressed layout!

I cut the branch, leaves, banner, hearts, "sweet" card, and letters on the Cricut.  Now the fun part, laying it all out to see how it will fit together.  Once I had an idea of where I was going, I stamped, inked, and distressed the hearts, banner, picture, and several of the scraps of paper on the left.

I added ribbon, laces, gems, an old lace applique and a distressed bow to complete the layout.  This now finds its home in my husband's home office.  She was looking at him in this picture; she has been Papa's girl since she was born!

Material List:

Shadow Box:  Kohl's
CTMH Cardstocks and Papers including Uptown Fundamentals and Happy Times (retired)
CTMH Cartridges: Art Philosophy, Artbooking, Artfully Sent, Artiste
CTMH Inks
CTMH Embellishments:  Mocha Gems, Rustic Home Ribbon and lace
Embellishments:  Offray lace, old applique from stash, Coats Gold Thread, Straight pins, Gold paint

My project is off to the following Challenges:

Fantabulous Cricut:  Something New:  Uptown Fundamentals is new for me!

Pressing On!

The Road Ahead....hmm......    That is the first theme of our year over at Path of Positivity.  What does the 2017 road ahead have in store?  Personally, I have some difficult decisions to make at the beginning of this year concerning my therapeutic horsemanship program.  When I have difficult decisions to make, I turn to God for answers and find peace.  However, this is one time when I must admit I have been struggling and have spent much time in prayer, contemplation, and questioning.

I am so driven to press on and not let go for I have reaped many rewards seeing others gain strength, confidence, and knowledge.  However, some serious obstacles have been placed before me.

As I pondered, I came across Galations 6:9  "And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up."

Sometimes we have to press on through difficult times when we question; we have to press for answers, but possibly there are other times when....... to be continued on January 23rd.

Birds of the Air

Today the optional theme at Twisted Thursday is For the Birds.  I chose to use the bird theme as a prompt for my faith journal and study Matthew 6: 25-33.

I started by applying clear gesso to the pages.  Once it was dry I used gelatos.  (These have been sitting in my craft room for a while resting while I have been busy with my Copics.  I decided it was time to do something totally different and out of the zone for me.)  I colored the pages and smeared the colors around with a baby wipe.

I stamped the border carrying parts of it into the page and used a decorative stamp in the corners to add more texture/interest.  I stamped my bird images.  The one on the right side is stamped directly onto the page; the left side was stamped onto a piece of designer paper.  I colored both images with pencils and/or Copics.  I added bits of old lace and the floral pieces to the page.  I stamped FAITH in the upper corner and wrote in parts of the verses I wanted to include.

Lastly, I splattered some gold paint mixed with water and painted around the little Blue Jay on the left.

Material List:
Journal from Hobby Lobby
Paper:  CTMH
Faber Castell Gelatos
Baby Wipes
Inks:  CTMH Juniper, Memento Black
CTMH Stamps:  Skylark, Fabulous You, Illuminate (all retired)
Copics
CTMH Water Color Pencils
Stash Embellishments:  Waxed black twine, flower, lace, gold thread
